Family Play Days
Play Day: Illuminate
Ames Family Atrium
About The Event
Join us this December as we play with light and shadow. Play Days at the CMA are opportunities for the whole family to be creative, be curious, and connect through art.
This winter’s program focuses on the different ways artists explore illumination in their work, including using color to represent radiance and happiness, showing contrast in painting using lights and darks, and exploring how light can change as it shines through different lenses and colors. The afternoon includes art-making activities, music, games, and more.
The event features the following activities:
- Lantern making as a part of the Winter Lights Lantern Festival and Holiday CircleFest
- An X-ray game with the CMA’s conservation team
- A writing activity with Literary Cleveland
- Shadow-puppet creation
- A shadow play station with handmade puppets
- A holiday ornament take-home kit
- An illumination-inspired self-guided tour
- Games and more!
