About The Event
Join Britany Salsbury, associate curator of prints and drawings, and Christina Weyl, an independent scholar and curator with expertise on 20th-century American printmaking, for a virtual talk.
Printmaking has existed for hundreds of years, and techniques such as lithography and etching were often considered too physically demanding for women to pursue professionally. This changed over the past half century with the founding of numerous printshops that encouraged women’s participation. They trained a generation of printmakers and made the medium accessible in a new way to female artists. Learn about this interesting history of the medium as it relates to the winter exhibition Women in Print: Recent Acquisitions.
Leadership Circle members, individual and institutional donors who provide annual support of $10,000 and above, current CMA Fund for Exhibition supporters, and direct funders of this exhibition will receive a digital invitation.
