About The Exhibition

Between about 3000 BCE and the early 1500s CE, ancient Andean weavers created one of the world’s most distinguished textile traditions in both artistic and technical terms. This installation presents highlights from the museum’s collection of textiles made during the Wari Empire, which flourished in the Peruvian coastal and highlands circa 600-1000 CE.
