University Group Visits


The internship program at the Cleveland Museum of Art provides professional learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of academic disciplines. Students placed in an internship role work alongside CMA staff on unique projects designed to complement academic instruction through hands-on experience.

Art and Insight

Art and Insight is a specialty program designed specifically for the medical community. Using a variety of close-looking activities, and artworks from the museum’s collection and exhibitions, participants develop or enhance skills of observation, reflection, and communication, which allow them to build empathy and cultural awareness and address implicit biases.

Joint Program

The joint program in art history is an innovative, dynamic, and long-standing partnership between the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) and the department of art history and art at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). The joint program offers three terminal degrees: an MA in art history, an MA in art history and museum studies, and a PhD in art history. Students in the art history and museum studies MA program hold an internship at the CMA in their second year, while students pursuing a PhD in art history hold a curatorial internship in their third year.
