Still-Life Painting Eight Tuesdays, January 14–March 3, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Using oil or acrylic, learn the fundamentals of painting, from organizing a palette and blending, color mixing, brushwork, and glazing techniques to the elements and principles of design and composition. Feel the Pose! Gesture Drawing & Yoga (all levels) Wednesday, December 11, 6:00–8:30 p.m. Use the human form as inspiration for relaxed gesture-drawing exercises to hone your observation skills in a unique way—through the study of yoga poses. Instructor: Susan Grey Bé. $50, CMA members $40.
Drawing in the Galleries Eight Wednesdays, January 15–March 4, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Hone observation and technical skills as you use charcoal, graphite, and conté crayons to sketch artworks in the galleries. Instructor: Susan Gray Bé. $245, CMA members $215; includes model fee for one session.
Workshop Wednesday: Conté Pastel Drawing Wednesday, January 22, 6:00–8:30 p.m. Compare European and Asian art techniques in the galleries and interpret Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, using colored conté pastel on sanded paper, and mimic rhythmic Asian brushwork, using graphite. Workshop Wednesday: Drag Queen Life Drawing Wednesday, March 4, 6:00–8:30 p.m. Enjoy a twist on a classic. Practice your drawing muscles with drag queens as your muse. Enjoy the challenge of recreating dramatic makeup looks, larger than life hairstyles, and shiny or sequined costumes. It won’t be easy, but it will be fun! Instructor: Susie Underwood
Composition in Oil Eight Fridays, January 17–March 6, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Experiment with line, color, balance, pattern, and contrast to create both still lifes and figurative compositions in this traditional painting course. Advanced painters are encouraged to further develop ideas and techniques and to experiment with paint application. A partial supply kit is available for $80. All-Day Workshop: Ikebana Flower Arranging (all skill levels) Saturday, December 7, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Create modern abstract floral designs by using traditional Japanese principles of flower arranging. This art emphasizes shape, line, and form. Supply list provided in advance. Instructor: Isa Ranganathan. $100, CMA members $85.

Registration is first-come, first-served. Most classes are limited to 16 participants. If minimum enrollment is not met one week before the first session, the class will be canceled and all enrolled participants will be notified; no further registrations will be accepted to reinstate the class. Supply lists and class syllabi are provided within one week of the first class date unless otherwise noted. High schoolers may enroll in adult classes with guardian permission.
