Plein Air Two-Day Workshops Inspired by Private Lives: Home and Family in the Art of the Nabis, Paris, 1889–1900

‘… the more one feeds on the best examples of art and nature. the richer may be the product.’

-Harold Speed

Since the advent of metallic paint tubes, artists have ventured outside to work directly from nature. This practice, known as plein air painting, affords the opportunity to study from the infinite variation of effects created by light and nature. Painters of nature gain tools of perception, imagination, color harmony, and a number of others, during their study.

Join us this July for an exciting series of plein air painting workshops. Each two-day workshop session focuses on a different motif within the Fine Arts Garden, so participants may register for multiple sessions.

Supplies: While students are encouraged to paint with oils, all mediums are welcome (acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, pencil, etc.). Easels will be provided by the CMA. Participants are responsible for all other supplies.

Session #1: Wednesday, July 7, and Wednesday, July 14, 2021, 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Session #2: Friday, July 9, and Friday, July 16, 2021, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
