Family Play Days

Come play at the CMA! Play Days at the CMA are free opportunities for families to be creative, be curious, and connect through art together. Events include music, storybook readings, games, and art making for the whole family. Each event has a theme that relates to an exhibition, artist, or artworks in the CMA’s collection.

Join us for an enchanting day and immerse yourselves in the mystical world of the supernatural. Delve into a rich tapestry of myths from around the world and the hidden symbolism of nature as we unleash our creative spirits together in a magical, family-friendly adventure.

 

December: Illuminate

Embark on a captivating journey exploring the mesmerizing beauty of light, the warmth of lanterns, and the twinkle of imagination, promising an illuminating experience that ignites creativity for all ages.

 

December Open Studio: Time Travel

Reflect on the year and dream of the future. Drop in to paint a colorful canvas of what’s to come in the New Year. Design a vessel for your memories and explore creative ways to document time. 

 

January: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

January 15, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Join us on Monday, January 15, when the Cleveland Museum of Art will open its doors for a free daylong celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Explore the moving passages of Dr. King’s writings and speeches, shed light on the museum’s collection, and create a work of art inspired by his legacy.

 

March Open Studio: Patchwork

March 27– March 29, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Classrooms B and C

Join us in forming new connections at our patchwork open studio week. Explore artworks and techniques and stitch together ideas to make a unique whole. Weave your own story using fiber materials and join scraps for a quilt of creativity. 

 

May: Chroma

Step into a vivid world of wonder and let your creative light shine! Immerse yourself in the enchanting realm of hues, shadows, and brilliance at this color-inspired event. Print a cyanotype photograph, build your own kaleidoscope, and more!
