A steel burgonet helmet features a rounded crown topped with a high vertical comb. A pointed brim projects forward above the face opening, flanked by large, hinged cheek plates with circular medallions. A buckled leather strap connects the plates below the jaw. The base flares into a wide neck guard with a roped edge. Rows of small rivets secure the components, and the metallic surface is marked by dark pitting and shallow dents.
