A vertically oriented gum tempera and ink painting on tan paper depicts Emperor Shah Jahan, a man with a light skin tone, in profile on a horse facing our right. He wears a patterned turban and holds a long spear, a thin halo framing his head. Above, two winged child figures float in clouds. A salmon-colored border with teal floral sprigs surrounds the scene, which features a torn upper-left corner.
