Description
Native Californians used working burden baskets, carried on the back with the aid of a tumpline that passed around the forehead, to carry all kinds of food and many other items. At the turn of the century, some weavers made scaled-down versions like this one for use as cornucopias in table arrangements in American homes.- "Accessions."
