Miniature Rhomboidal Basket
late 1800s-early 1900s
Overall: 2.3 cm (7/8 in.)
Location: not on view
Description
Miniature baskets were made to demonstrate the basket-maker’s virtuoso skill, and these tiny marvels seem to be no exception—the smallest are just a few millimeters wide but still patterned. For such fine work, dexterity was required as much for preparation of materials as for weaving.- "Accessions." The Bulletin of the Cleveland Museum of Art 4, no. 4 (1917): 64-67.
