A horizontally oriented etching in black ink on paper depicts a rugged stone quarry. Tall derricks with spindly masts and cables stand atop craggy cliffs overlooking a deep pit. Fine vertical and diagonal lines crisscross the entire composition. Expressive dark hatches define a sloping foreground ridge, where small figures appear near the machinery. Handwritten text along the bottom identifies "Cape Ann Quarryland" on the left and "Carl J. Nordell, Imp." on the right.
