Athlete or Apollo

probably 100–1 BCE

Description

This bronze statuette depicts a nude male, perhaps a young athlete or the youthful god Apollo. Lost to time are objects he would have held in his hands, perhaps a bow and arrow. The weight-shift stance of the youth recalls the style of Praxiteles, master sculptor of the 4th century BC.
