Two sides of a circular medal with a dark patina and silver-toned relief feature inscriptions circling central designs. On the left, is a shield containing three open books inscribed with "VE," "RI," and "TAS" encircled by a wreath and Latin text. On the right, the dates "1636-1936" sit above an eleven-line block-text inscription. Both sides are finished with a textured border of fine, radiating lines.
