A circular bronze medal depicts a pronged, deer-like creature in relief, kneeling on a thin ledge. The warm, golden-brown patina is interrupted by darker shadows within the animal's textured coat and the deep vertical ribs of three background cacti. Light catches the raised edges of the flowering cactus tops and the creature's arched silhouette. The composition balances the grounded form of the animal against the tall, textured verticality of the desert flora.
