Lustrous golden-brown metal forms two circular views of a medal in raised relief. One side features a polar bear with a smooth, massive body tilting its snout upward toward two stylized birds and the word ARCTIC. On the other, four penguins huddle atop jagged ice above the word ANTARCTIC. Names in embossed capital letters circle each border, separated by stars, highlighting rounded animal forms set against a flat backdrop.
