Polished golden-brown bronze forms this circular medal in raised relief. At the center, a sleek polar bear stands on jagged ice, head tilted upward beside two flying geese and the word ARCTIC. Small icebergs float below. Circling the border, the names GREELY, BARTLETT, PEARY, and BYRD are embossed between stars. The glint of light highlights smooth curves against the textured, geometric ice.
