A horizontally oriented ink and wash drawing on beige paper depicts an expansive Roman square. To the left, an ornate church with a towering facade and columns rises. To the right, a tall building with a balcony frames the foreground, shaded with dark washes. Tiny figures on horseback and foot, rendered with fine lines, populate the open space. Handwritten Italian and Latin script fills the upper and lower margins in neat rows.
