Description

Boardman Robinson's cartoons were startling to his contemporaries both because of his bold use of brush and ink (rather than fine penwork) and because of his radical social views. He produced this dramatic drawing of revolutionaries at the barricades shortly after returning from a trip through Eastern Europe with the famous American leftist journalist, John Reed (1887–1920).
