A horizontally oriented lithograph in shades of gray depicts a wide river rushing toward us between rocky banks. On the left, a thick, dark tree leans sharply over the water. Dense clusters of graphite lines create textures of stone, foam, and foliage. On the right, a craggy cliff rises toward a pale, hazy sky. Swirling hatch marks suggest a rapid current breaking against large boulders while shaded mountains recede into the distance.
