Much glass of this type was produced in Southern New Jersey in the late 18th and early half of the 19th century because of the abundance of raw materials for glassmaking found there. Neoclassical shapes for sugar bowls and vases were popular forms in blown glass of the early 19th century.- (Mrs. James Lovell Little, Brookline, Massachusetts).
