- This fragment contains four types of silk velvet (cut, uncut, voided, and brocaded). Some of the brocaded wefts are fabricated of metal thread that is looped as it is woven into the textile. The metal thread itself consists of a narrow strip of gold or silver wound around a silk core like a barber pole.
