A pale green stoneware vessel tapers from broad, rounded shoulders to a narrow base. Dense horizontal ridges wrap around the body, creating a rhythmic, ribbed texture. The glossy, muted celadon glaze pools in the grooves, catching light along the rings. A short neck with a small, flared rim crowns the piece. Subtle dark marks and shifts in color near the base and rim interrupt the uniform sea-green surface.

Description

The Longquan potter applied many coats of glaze and allowed each to dry before adding another. With firing, the glaze matured to a thick and cloudy layer, making the pottery more like an exquisite emulation of jade.
