Description
There is no particular sculpture that duplicates this drawing since Chadwick did not make detailed working drawings for his constructions. The drawing, however, is similar in style to many of the iron and glass pieces Chadwick fabricated in 1952. For Chadwick, the creation of a sculpture has to be a controlled process of trial and error, beginning with small parts and building up a structure that will balance on a pivotal support or fulcrum. Drawing is for him more tiring than sculpture; it requires more concentration and he finds he can only sustain this for an hour or so.- Changing Dimensions: Works on Paper by Sculptors.
