Description
This dish portrays Chinese scholar Zhou Dunyi—also known as Zhou Maoshu (1017–1073)—appreciating lotuses, a motif borrowed from Chinese porcelains. The ceramics painter of this work depicted Zhou seemingly appreciating both the lotus and the young lady with a lotus in the boat.- ?–1958(K. J.
