Description
Callot's etching shows the appearance of the garden at the ducal palace at Nancy in 1625. Female figures carrying baskets on their heads are pictured so that Bellange's etchings of gardeners balancing ornate, fanciful containers must have been based on reality.- Robert Hartshorne ??Robert Hartshorne
