A carved and gilded wood pedestal flares from a white stone top to a wide base supported by four golden paw feet. Gilded winged figures and a central rayed face surmount a gold coat of arms against a blue background. Painted panels of red and blue patterns fill the spaces between ornate scrolls. A ring of green marble circles the bottom edge just above the gilded feet.

Description

The coat of arms on this pedestal is that of Cardinal York, the last of the Stuart pretenders to the British throne. He lived out his years in Rome, where he had been made a cardinal of the Church.
