Description
Sekino was active in the circle of the influential søsaku-hanga artist Køshirø Onchi (whose work is also on view in this exhibition). Sekino focused on the harmony of poetic spirit and technique, which he considered essential to the woodblock print. His simplified representational style reflects his interest in the distillation of the geometric and organic shapes that give the Japanese landscape its characteristic flavor.- East Meets West: Tradition and Innovation in Modern Japanese Prints.
