Description

The foreground of Saitō Kiyoshi's print captures the elaborately carved wood railing of the Ming dynasty–style architecture of a Buddhist temple in Nagasaki. The temple was established by Chaonian (1567–1644), a monk from Fuzhou in China's Fujian province, to serve the diasporic community from Fuzhou.
