Description

A self-taught, freelance photographer, André Kertész began his photographic career in Paris in 1925. One of the first pioneers of the photojournalistic use of the 35mm camera, his distinctive style combined the formal concerns of post-World War I modernism with his emotional interests. In Paris From My Window, Kertész presented a romantic, elevated view of the urban landscape, punctuated by the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. This nostalgic view of Paris embodies Kertész's interest in bold, repeated forms and ambiguous symbolism.
