Description

During the 1930s, when most American photographers still worked in a pictorial style, Edward Quiqley pursued a modernist approach. His abstract images emphasized bold compositions achieved through technical experimentation. To ensure secrecy, Quigley did not explain his procedures. In this example, however, he probably used movement and dramatically lit fabric to create dynamic effect.
