Description

William Wegman, who draws, paints, and has worked as a video and conceptual artist, is best known for his comical portraits of his pet Weimaraners, Man Ray and Fay Ray. His images often contain visual puns or irrational setups that encourage viewers to take a second look. Wegman's work reminds us that what we expect to see often colors our interpretation of what is actually there. Rock Recliner is a one-of-a-kind photograph taken with a 20-x-24-inch Polaroid camera that produces instant color prints on Polacolor film. To create this enigmatic image, Wegman posed the patient Fay Ray on a boulder in the midst of a dark, mysterious Maine landscape.
