Description

As the Depression set in after the stock market crash of 1929, the city parks, streets, and benches once occupied by lovers were now overrun by the downtrodden, unemployed, and dispossessed. Charles Turzak’s stark design depicts homeless men asleep in Chicago’s Grant Park. The newspapers that serve as their only shield from the elements bring more bad news.
