Description
Tanabe, a Canadian of Japanese descent, studied painting and calligraphy in Japan in the early 1960s. He lives near Vancouver, its beautiful landscape the subject for the great majority of his paintings and prints. Tanabe works with the master block cutter and printer Masato Arikushi who helps him create woodcuts remarkable in their subtlety, richness of color, and technical perfection.- Cleveland, Ohio: The Cleveland Museum of Art; December 12, 2004- April 10, 2005.
