Description

Along with Enzo Cucchi, Sandro Chia, and Francesco Clemente, Mimmo Paladino is part of Italy's "transavantgarde", a term used to describe a group of artists working since the early 1980s that has turned away from the American modernist tradition and toward Italy's artistic, cultural, and linguistic heritage. The figures in these works are not meant to be specifically referential but adaptable to each viewer's experience and interpretation.
