A warm-toned, vertically oriented photogravure depicts the face of Lone Chief, an Oto man. Turned slightly toward our right, his eyes look directly at us from beneath a large headdress. Numerous light-colored feathers rise above a dark headband detailed with geometric beadwork. Soft lighting highlights his steady gaze and medium-dark skin tone against a dark background. Text at the bottom left reads, "LONE CHIEF—OTO."
