- This six-panel folding screen came into the collection in 1997 but has never been displayed due to its poor condition. The hinges between panels were breaking, there were large tears through the panels, the pigment was flaking, and there was a great deal of wax splattered across the painting surfaces. As the museum is now one of six institutions in North America with a conservation studio specializing in the care of Asian paintings, the screen is currently undergoing extensive treatment to repair these issues so that it might finally be displayed.
