Description

Chiarenza does not depend on recognizable forms to guide perception. His compositions of torn scraps of materials, such as paper and foil, incorporate a fascinating interplay of light, shape, and texture that strongly suggest landscapes. Chiarenza photo-graphed the abstract patterns on black and white Polaroid film, which he manipulated during development by altering light exposure, chemicals, temperature, and toners.
