Description
Although abstraction has dominated modern art, many British artists continue a long tradition of interest in the figure. Bellany's portrait of his father, a fisherman, surrounded by the ship models he made as a hobby, exemplifies the work of this well-known Scottish artist. Bellany began etching seriously in the early 1970s and developed a very individual and expressive scraggly, skittish line.- From Rembrandt to Rauschenberg: Recently Acquired Prints.
