Description
The Casino shape represents one of the finest art deco designs produced by the British ceramics industry. A bold, streamlined shape that made use of concentric circles and stepped planes, Casino was first presented with banded patterns. Later a wider range of surface decoration was added to the line, including Athlone (1935), which featured stylized maple leaves in rust or green, as here.- {{cite web|title=Casino Shape Covered Vegetable Dish with Athlone Pattern (cover)|url=false|author=Charles Noke, Doulton and Co.|year=designed c. 1931|access-date=17 April 2024|publisher=Cleveland Museum of Art}}
