A native of Iceland, Hildur Jónsson has held solo shows in Reykjavik, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, and FAVA (Firelands Association for the Visual Arts) Gallery in Oberlin. She has been invited to exhibit her drawings and weavings in Barcelona, Paris, and Rouen. She has received three awards from the Ohio Arts Council and her work is represented in private collections and the collections of the National City Bank, Progressive Corporation, and University Hospitals, Cleveland. Most recently, the Ohio Arts Council commissioned her to design the Governor's Annual Awards in the Arts, and her embroideries were presented to winners of the 2004 awards. Jónsson studied architecture at Kent State University, attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, and received a BFA and MFA from Kent State.
