Description
From the outset, Baumann became integrated into the life of Santa Fe and played an active role in the town’s cultural endeavors. He was mesmerized by the stunning landscape, which is depicted in this drawing, but also had found a sympathetic place to live. Feeling content in his new hometown, Baumann commented, “The artist’s happiest moment is perhaps when he finds the place he is working in to be completely to his liking much like a horse that finds itself in a green pasture after having kicked off the harness of city restrictions.”- Ann Baumann, Santa Rosa, CAFebruary 27, 2006The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
