Inspired by the bold style of Kalighat paintings, Jamini Roy created paintings using indigenous materials, often with multiple versions of the same subject. Here the infant Krishna crawls with a butter ball in one hand. The cow, flowers, and leaves set the rural bucolic environment of his youth.- ?–2004William E.
