These two original photocollages are among those made by Hugnet to be reproduced in his imaginary travel guide Eight Days at Trébaumec. This fictional tourist destination is a "little lost town in Brittany, paradise regained" where the travelers indulge inactivities that suggest life after, rather than before, the fall from grace. The town’s name is a play onthe French words for a very handsome guy, or "très beau mec." My Wanderings, a rare exampleof Hugnet’s use of original photographs in his collages, incorporates two photographs by Frenchphotographer Jean Moral. Around the time Hugnet produced this collage, he was not just close friends with Jean and his wife Juliette, but also romantically involved with her.
