Description

Louis Faurer was on assignment for Vogue in 1950 when he photographed the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He discovered that backstage provided much more interesting images for his personal work than the acts in the ring did. Whether photographing on the city’s streets or behind the scenes at the circus, Faurer was drawn to the humor and quirkiness of human behavior.
