Description
Although his subject matter is extensive, Mortenson has spent much of his time photographing the landscape in its natural setting and showing the results of human intervention. This lush platinum print is from a body of work he created in 1993 with his 8-by-10-inch view camera: the pristine landscape contained in the Harriman State Park located in the Hudson Highlands near West Point, New York. Seemingly situated in an isolated wilderness, this more than 46,000-acre park, containing numerous lakes and reservoirs, is only 30 miles north of Manhattan.- Artist; Ralph Gibson, New York, NY: Cleveland Museum of Art
