Description

American-born Singer began studying at Atelier 17 in Paris during the mid-1950s. Finding the creative atmosphere congenial for her work, she remained there the rest of her life. Her most famous print, Atlantis, is an abstracted map-like composition named after the fictional island. This particular impression, recently acquired by the Cleveland Museum of Art, was originally in the collection of Atelier 17 founder Stanley William Hayter, who likely received it as a gift from the artist.
