A square gelatin silver print depicts a steep chasm in black and gray tones. Two craggy cliff faces descend from the left and right toward a dark crevice in the lower center. On the left, patches of dark vegetation and irregular stone formations cover the slope. In the upper right, a pale, rippled body of water meets the cliff. Heavy shadows and a grainy texture create strong contrast throughout the composition.
