Description

Artist and writer Raoul Hausmann (Austrian, 1886–1971) was a central figure in the Dadaist movement in Berlin and produced photocollages, assemblage, and sound poetry. Sander took multiple photographs of Hausmann to reflect his multifaceted personality from wild performer to serious businessman. This rather formal studio portrait depicts the Dadaist as a sober, monocled, and suited man, an upstanding member of society.
