Did You Know?
Lozowick identified with workers and often showed labor scenes from their perspective, as in this print.Description
Ukranian-born Louis Lozowick immigrated to America in 1906 and made the cityscapes of his adopted home the primary subject of his work. He favored the precise geometric style seen here as a means to emphasize the efficiency and mechanization of the American city. This print features rails used to build the New York subway, as an elevated train passes in the distance.- Mary Ryan Gallery, New York, NY2009-2018James and Hanna Bartlett, Lincoln, MADecember 3, 2018the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH
